Khorgos Port - First Stop from Kazakhstan

The silver MPV sits in an empty parking lot. In the distance are noodle shops and halal butcher signs.

The silver MPV's front faces the camera, parked in an empty parking lot. In the distance are signs for "Noodle Shop" and "Xiao Dai Halal Butcher," with a police car quietly parked in the corner.

The sky is blue without a single cloud. In the distance, the mountains are hazy, like an ink wash painting.

This is a convoy that just entered China from Khorgos Port in Xinjiang. Everyone is resting in the parking lot, waiting to finish the remaining procedures.

Ah Ming gets out of the car and stretches—he's been driving for almost a week all the way from Kazakhstan, and now he's finally officially in China. He looks at the noodle shop sign in the distance, and his stomach growls.

"Let's go get a bowl of noodles!" he calls to his friends. "I heard Chinese noodles are really good."

His friends laugh and agree. Several of them head toward the noodle shop. The parking lot is quiet, only the sound of wind blowing, and occasional car noises in the distance.

Sunlight spills on the car body, making the silver paint shine brightly. The new journey officially begins, right here in this bowl of hot noodles.

From here you can take the Lianhuo Highway directly east to Urumqi, then north to the Duku Highway, south to the Yizhao Highway, experiencing the magnificent scenery of Xinjiang.

"I've always heard Xinjiang is beautiful. Today I finally see it with my own eyes," Ah Ming says. "The sky is so blue, the grass is so green, the air is great too."

Indeed, the magnificent scenery of Xinjiang is worth every road tripper coming to see.
