🇱🇦 Thailand: Required Documents

Sample documents for driving your own car from Thailand into China. All images are real examples with sensitive information blurred for privacy.

Thailand is the most common entry point for foreign vehicles entering China—over 80% of foreign cars we process come through the Mohan/Boten border crossing. Here's exactly what you need to prepare:

1. Passport

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. The photo page is what we need for customs processing.

2. Chinese Visa

You need a valid Chinese visa. We only need the visa page in your passport (the one with the Chinese visa sticker).

We handle this document for you.
Contact us for details.

3. Driver License

Your Thailand driver license. An international driving permit is helpful but not always required—we'll tell you based on your situation.

4. Driver Photo

A clear passport-size photo of the driver. This is for the temporary driving permit application.

5. Vehicle Registration Certificate

Your car's registration document (the vehicle ownership paper). This proves the car belongs to you.

6. Vehicle Book (Thailand)

Thailand's vehicle book (the blue book"car passport"). All pages are needed for customs processing.

7. Vehicle Inspection Report

Thailand's annual vehicle inspection report (PTL inspection). This proves your car is road-worthy.

8. Vehicle Photos

We need clear photos of your car: front, rear, and sides. These are for the temporary import permit application.

Good to know: Thailand is the easiest country to drive into China from. The Mohan/Boten border is open 7 days a week, and we have staff on-site to help you through customs. Most Thailand car owners can complete the whole process in half a day.
